Review some favorite rhymes. These can be poems, jump-rope rhymes, or songs. Name the words that sound the same. (For example, "Bubble gum, bubble gum in a dish. How many pieces do you wish?")
Listen to "It's Rhyme Time." Tap the steady beat while the song is playing.
What rhymed with bat? (cat, rat, mat, hat, pat, sat, fat)
What rhymed with can? (fan, pan, ran, van, man, tan, Dan)
Sing the song. (If desired, write out a list of the rhyming words. Notice that the endings are the same in each word.)
Challenge: Make up a new word list to rhyme, such as "dog" or "day." Try to make a list of at least eight rhyming words. If desired, use the accompaniment track to sing your new song!
