bow, wow, wow - stamp feet right, left, right

Reading Rhythms. Teacher draws four boxes on the board, representing the four measures.
Box by box, students determine the rhythm to the song and fill in the boxes. Students tap and chant the rhythm syllables.
Teacher then erases the rhythms in the third box. Have students chant rhythm syllables for entire song, reciting the missing measure from memory. Erase rhythm in second box. Have students again chant rhythms for entire song. Erase measure four, and then finally measure one. Praise the children as they chant the entire song from memory.
Ask for volunteers to add back the rhythm patterns, one measure at a time. Chant and tap the rhythm of the entire song one last time.
Teacher sings the song on loo, then students name the solfege pitches. Teacher writes the solfege names underneath the rhythm syllables.
Measure one (do, do, do)
Measure two (mi, mi-mi, mi)
Measure three (sol-sol, sol-la, sol-mi, do)
Measure four (mi, re, do)
Students sing the song on solfege syllables with Curwen hand signs.
Ostinato challenge: Select one measure. Have students sing that measure four times as an ostinato. Have one half of the class sing the ostinato while the other half sings the song. Select a different measure and repeat the process.
