Instructions
Distribute flags to all. Stand up and march to "You're a Grand Old Flag" while waving the flag to the steady beat.
Learn some motions to the song.
You're a grand old flag, you're a high-flying flag: Salute
And forever in peace may you wave: Show the peace sign in both hands and wave back and forth.
You're the emblem of the land I love, The home of the free and the brave: Cross hands over your heart.
Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the red, white and blue: Tap heart three times for heart beats true and for red, white and blue.
Where there's never a boast or brag: shake heads back and forth
But, should auld acquaintance be forgot, keep your eye on the grand old flag. Hands held palm-up at shoulders, then salute.
Sing the song together with the motions.

(Note: depending on the skill of your group, more rhythms can be used.)
Mix-it Up game: Distribute rhythm instruments. Assign certain instruments to certain note values.
Rhythm Sticks will play all Ti-Ti rhythms.
Drums and Maracas will play all Ta rhythms.
Triangles, cymbals, and finger cymbals will play all half note rhythms. (wave, brave, brag, (last)flag)
Perform: This would be a great song to perform for holidays, such as: Flag Day (June 14) , Fourth of July, Patriot Day (September 11) and Veteran's Day(November 11).
